Last updated: June 2025

1. Introduction

TrueTechFinder ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and service, how we use that information, and your rights regarding it.

By using TrueTechFinder, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account data

If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address. We do not collect your name or any other identifying information unless you voluntarily provide it (for example, via the contact form).

Scan activity

When you scan a website, we record the URL submitted and basic metadata about the scan (such as the timestamp and scan outcome). If you are logged in, this activity is associated with your account for the purpose of enforcing daily scan limits. Anonymous scans are recorded without any link to a user identity.

IP addresses

We collect and temporarily log IP addresses for rate-limiting purposes. This helps us protect the service from abuse. IP addresses used solely for rate limiting are not retained beyond the active request window.

Contact form submissions

If you use the contact form at /contact, we collect your name, email address, inquiry type, and message content. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry.

Usage and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use TrueTechFinder. This may include pages visited, time spent, and general geographic region. Google Analytics data is anonymised and aggregated. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Service, including delivering scan results.
  • Enforce usage limits and protect the Service from abuse.
  • Respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form.
  • Improve the Service by understanding how it is used.
  • Send transactional communications such as account verification emails, where applicable.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Scan results and third-party website data

TrueTechFinder analyses publicly accessible data from third-party websites that you submit for scanning. This data reflects publicly observable technology signals and is not personal data belonging to you.

Scan results may be cached and served to other users requesting information about the same domain. Cached results contain no information about who originally requested the scan.

If you scan a website that you own or operate, please note that the resulting scan data (such as detected technologies) may be stored and displayed to other users of the Service.

5. Cookies and sessions

TrueTechFinder uses cookies and browser storage for the following purposes:

  • Authentication cookies: If you log in, a secure session cookie is set to keep you signed in across page visits. This cookie does not contain your password.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies to track aggregate site usage. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

6. Data retention

Account email addresses are retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Scan cache entries are retained for a limited period (typically up to 6 hours for cached results, longer for scan history used to power our sitemap and public result pages). After this period, cached data is either refreshed or removed.

Contact form submissions are retained for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact us.
